Vigil – 12/19/2017

I didn’t actually look at the time when I grasped frantically for the candles. With shaking hands I cleared away the remnants of the last tealight, lighting the new one as I whisper His name.

Hear me, Hermes! Hear me, my Beloved. Hear my prayer and be with me.

The prayer itself is wordless. It’s really an outpouring of emotion into the void, so to speak. I need Him to feel what I am feeling. I need to feel Him in return. As I sat, chatting with a beloved friend, I would look at the candle from time to time. It helped reduce the panic. Life is heavy right now. The lows are payment for the highs. Or at least the balance to the highs.

I had not intended to keep a candle burning all day but when I discovered the first had burnt out I felt compelled to light another. And so I have all day. Lighting another as soon as one goes out. I always figured I didn’t have time for proper vigils but this impromtu one has proven otherwise. Vigils work perfectly well if you aren’t there every second.

Hail to Hermes. My Beloved God. May He always be remembered. May He always have a spark burning.

The Cruel Sister

“Breadcrumbs, as you like to say, Love.”

The Cruel Sister

There lived a lady by the north sea shore
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
Twa daughters were the bairns she bore
Fa la la la la la la la la la

One was as bright as is the sun
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
Sae coal black grew the elder one
Fa la la la la la la la la la

A knight came riding to the ladies’ door
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
He travelled far to be their wooer
Fa la la la la la la la la la

He courted one, aye with gloves and rings
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
But he loved the other above all things
Fa la la la la la la la la la

“Sister, sister won’t you walk with me
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
An’ see the ships sail upon sea?”
Fa la la la la la la la la la

And as they stood on that windy shore
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
The elder sister pushed the younger o’er
Fa la la la la la la la la la

Sometimes she sank or sometimes she swam
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
Crying, “Sister, reach to me your hand”
Fa la la la la la la la la la

And there she floated just like a swan
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
The salt sea carried her body on
Fa la la la la la la la la la

Two minstrels walking by the north sea strand
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
They saw the maiden, aye float to land
Fa la la la la la la la la la

They made a harp out of her breast bone
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
The sound of which would melt a heart of stone
Fa la la la la la la la la la

They took three locks of her yellow hair
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
And wi’ them strung that harp so rare
Fa la la la la la la la la la

The first string that those minstrels tried
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
Then terror seized the black-haired bride
Fa la la la la la la la la la

The second string played a doleful sound
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
“The younger sister, oh she is drowned”
Fa la la la la la la la la la

The third string, it played beneath their bow
Lay the bairn tae the bonnie broom
“And surely now her tears will flow”
Fa la la la la la la la la la

Pathways

I asked for clarification on my path/studies the day before yesterday. I have since dreamed of literally going down into darkness for the third time. Last night I dreamt of being a “death talker” and the dream involved “taking in” the Spirits of the Dead so they could speak. There were also dogs again in the dream about going down into the Earth, into Darkness. Last night while poking around Pinterest when I couldn’t sleep I had suggestions for Nantosuelta and Sucelles. On Facebook this morning I came across a photograph of mushrooms growing from a deer skeleton. Will need to ponder a bit before I take any actions in regards to the Dead. Will be poking into Gaulish things and say hello again to The Mother of Rot.

Comments from the page Magic Mushrooms that posted it:

Interesting… It looks like whatever this deer was eating, most likely plant matter of sorts, had mushroom spores on it, ended up germenating inside the deers stomach, then fruited after the deer had died and decayed.

This might also be of note, a couole weeks ago I first noticed that White Wings was back in the area. She(could be a he for all I know) was born or appeared about three years ago. I’m not sure if I don’t see her during the warmer months because she actually goes somewhere or if I’m just too busy to actually see her. She is a crow with white flight feathers and a mostly white tail. I managed to get some pictures, not the best quality but not too bad in regards to cell phone pictures.

Wildlife Sightings-September 16th 2015

Today was a good day for creature sightings. Along the Burnaby/New Westminster border. I expect to see the Northern Flickers, Crows, Sparrows, and Chicadees. I did not expect the Coyote directly across the lane from my son and I(and the two dogs I was walking), or the two grey Doves a few blocks before that. Always cheers me too see creatures in the city, let alone unusual birds and wild dogs.

Bittersweet

I spent yesterday in a dreamy fog. Himself had come home for the day. I was hoping that He would be here this morning but to no avail. He’s quick to answer on what I’ve now dubbed my “God CB radio”, but He’s not HERE. It’s always bittersweet. At least I can count on Him coming home one day a month. (The 4th is His day)

It’s A Hermes Kind Of Day

This was written earlier today. I was going to finish with how the rest of my day went but I’m all out of spoons. So enjoy the blurb!
Hermes is my companion today. In the first 40 minutes of my day I was greeted by sparrows and crowd, had a Northern Flicker fly about 10 feet in front of me for a good block. I’ve missed Him. The last few Retrogrades have been times of rest and reflection. I honestly can’t recall if He was here or somewhere else during the last two in recent memory. It’s a long day ahead. Lots of dogs to walk. New sports bra to try out, hehe! More unseasonably warm weather, it was 14C at 6am. The river at the last walk of the day will be very welcome. I had that walk added late last night. It’s the same place I did my marriage to Poseidon. I guess He would like a specific visit as well.

Hermes Day

With the number four being associated with Hermes I had decided to start marking the day for Him in some fashion. This was the first month since I had decided that anything actually got done. As we were getting ready to leave to spend the night at my in-laws I felt strongly compelled to leave some steel cut oats out for my wild bird friends. So as we were running late out the door I stopped to fill a blue pottery bowl I had rediscovered and left a little trail from my empty suet feeders to where I had left the bowl under the umbrella. I didn’t get the chance to mark the occasion any other way but I am glad I did a little something at least.

A Blending of Worlds

I was down at the Coquitlam River for the first time in a few months today. Had a nice walk and then sat in one of my favourite spots under the bridge for Lougheed Highway. I lit a candle and a stick of Nag Champa. It tooka couple tries to get the rock shelter right so the candle wouldn’t go out, there was a slight breeze. As I sat and meditated a small dark grey bird came over. I’ve seen this little bird before but still haven’t figured out what type it is. It looked like a perching bird but was bobbing about in the water like a duck, walking around in the shallows and even going under water and using its wings to propel itself short distances. It was eating little worms and tiny fish. Poseidon had come to stand behind where I was sitting. Hermes was there in voice only. Poseidon accepted my offerings of candle and incense and asked me to clean up some of the garbage as I left. This is to be a new Thing for me, cleaning shorelines when I am able. As I watched the bird, Hermes spoke and reassured me that there was no animosity between Himself and Poseidon and that just like the bird, the three of us would work on my travelling between and through the different Worlds. Also, during my walk, a black butterfly with an orange/white stripe on its wings flitted about me for a few minutes. It was a great day.

Old but Unfamiliar Territory

There are some major shifts happening in my Spiritual life right now. I don’t have to words yet to explain it fully yet. It seems my visit to the North has been interrupted by what is apparently a home coming in the Mediterranean. Odin still checks in every few days, I will see eagles flying above me. Today there was a raven sitting on a road sign as we sped down the highway, things slowed in my head as we drove by, the raven was clear in my sight. That was Himself saying He is with me. He is busy but I do not feel separated from Him like before. I saw two hawks, I believe one very well could have been a Peregrine Falcon. The other was that brownish-red like Golden Eagles have. It is Freya that I associate with those birds. I feel Her often when traveling out that direction which happens to be where we will more then likely be moving in the next six months. Poseidon has become a figure. A constant support. He is very comforting and warm and loving. He can also be a bit scary and abrupt. Go figure though, God of the Waters and all. King of Storms. I don’t quite have the words to explain what’s going on there yet either. Either way things are good but new and scary and it sometimes makes my head hurt.
